Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha!!!

A couple days ago we went on a wonderful adventure! We loaded the kids in the car and told them we were going to do some cultural things today:) Simon sighed and Mary of course didn't have any idea what I was talking about.

I think we take our life in our own hands every time we drive here totally scares me people everywhere! Rules what rules?? Our kids with no car seats. driving on the wrong side of the road, me trying to read a map please don't laugh at that...mopeds with 4 people on them adults with helmets kids without?? All I can say is it's an experience and the kids and Kevin seem to love it:)

Well we were off to see Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha. We arrive 30 minutes later after a few wrong turns to Wat Chalong a temple in southern Phuket. I loved it and Kevin with enthusiasm starts teaching Simon and Mary all about Buddhism who knew?? By the time we left the kids were taking their shoes off, bowing and asking so many questions which made me very happy. The monks were cheery and smiling at me and the kids it was amazing to me. Here are a few pictures from our first stop of the day!

I love this picture! I missed all 3 bowing at the same time it was so cute!

Our next stop was the Big Buddha!! It is located on a hill that can be seen from the Andaman Sea on one side and Chalong Bay on the other, it is one of those views you will always remember! The Buddha stands over 15 stories tall and is beautiful I stood there trying to imagine the craftsmanship it took to make it.

We spent a long time here the breeze was nice at the top of the mountain and there was a lot for the kids to do, see and learn here! Again Kevin was teaching them about respect of not only the temple and rules within them but also about Buddha . They light candles at the altar in respect and blessing of Buddha, then Mary lit incense for the loved ones on my side of the family which have passed and Simon lit one for Kevin's side.

Next we climbed the hill to the Big Buddha!!
Adventure continues on next post:)
