November 14th- Blessing/Market/Swimming and kayaking!!

Oh it was sunny we were so excited when we woke up!!! Decided to find a Sunday market and get some fruit so we loaded thing 1 and thing 2 into the car and off we went. With no car seats they tend to fight a lot in the car.

Well as usual with us they were closed but we did find another Wat(temple) called Wat Ladthiwanaram and the kids love to explore them so much we turned in!! Church was in session today so the chanting was really neat to hear gave a different atmosphere. We went into one of the building to do our blessing which is the kids favorite part what kid wouldn't like to bow, light candles and incense :) Today was special Simon and Mary were blessed by the monk. I was pumped:0)

On the way home we found a little market to buy fruit. Simon and Mary as soon as they got out of the car were plugging their noses and saying they were going to puke:( One of those moments in time you just want to hide... But we still walked around and looked and then Simon bought some fruit.

Simon buying his fruit all by himself!

Back to the villa for lunch, swimming and kayaking we spent over 4 hours in the water this day!!

Love to all Christine

A little of this and that!!

Well I'm a little behind in the posts so I will do a little catch up!!!

November 9th and 10th we stayed around the villa and just built sand castles and Simon lived in the ocean!! Kevin bought Mary a boogie board and now she is swimming around with Simon with a death grip on the board:)

Sam our favorite bar man!!!

We have also been getting the kids to try different fruit while we are here!!! Here's Simon with his first Dragon fruit!!

November 11th we went on a dive/snorkel trip to Phi Phi!!! It was amazing but we have no photo's because we forgot to put the battery back in the camera;( Yes I'm very sad about this but nothing we can do about it. Hopefully Matt and Jane from London remember to send pictures and then I will do a post about the adventure! Simon did amazing with the snorkeling after the fear of the deep water finally went away:) One look at all the fish under the water and he was hooked. Mary's raft is awesome and she goes right along with us and can see evening we can through the window!! So the kids and I snorkeled in the morning while Kevin had his first dive, then at lunch Kevin and the kids snorkeled together and I got to do a bit of snorkeling on my own which was awesome saw my first big clam.

The day ended with Kevin going on his second dive and while we were getting ready to snorkel again a huge storm blew in and I had the kids huddled under a towel. Oh yes it's what you imagine!! Anyway I will write more about this adventure hopefully when I have pictures to add.

November 12 and 13 the rain started and didn't stop which wasn't very fun for any of us:( So on the 13th we decided to try and do something educational so off to the museum we went!

We visited Thalang National Museum Phuket and had a very nice morning!!!

These were pictures of how the sea gypsies live.

Love this picture:0)
Our next stop was another Wat because the kids love to go:) We were the only people there!!

This one was so beautiful!!

Love to all we would love to here from you if you can't be a follower send us a e-mail!

Wat Chalong and Big Buddha continued....

The final highlight of the day was found as we were driving down from the Big Buddha Hill!! We rounded one of the last corners to see elephants:) We stopped and paid 100baht for a basket of bananas to feed the elephants the kids as you can imagine were very excited!

Simon went first!!
Now it's Mary's turn!!!

Well I will leave today with my favorite picture of the day!!! Bye to everyone! Love Christine

Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha!!!

A couple days ago we went on a wonderful adventure! We loaded the kids in the car and told them we were going to do some cultural things today:) Simon sighed and Mary of course didn't have any idea what I was talking about.

I think we take our life in our own hands every time we drive here totally scares me people everywhere! Rules what rules?? Our kids with no car seats. driving on the wrong side of the road, me trying to read a map please don't laugh at that...mopeds with 4 people on them adults with helmets kids without?? All I can say is it's an experience and the kids and Kevin seem to love it:)

Well we were off to see Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha. We arrive 30 minutes later after a few wrong turns to Wat Chalong a temple in southern Phuket. I loved it and Kevin with enthusiasm starts teaching Simon and Mary all about Buddhism who knew?? By the time we left the kids were taking their shoes off, bowing and asking so many questions which made me very happy. The monks were cheery and smiling at me and the kids it was amazing to me. Here are a few pictures from our first stop of the day!

I love this picture! I missed all 3 bowing at the same time it was so cute!

Our next stop was the Big Buddha!! It is located on a hill that can be seen from the Andaman Sea on one side and Chalong Bay on the other, it is one of those views you will always remember! The Buddha stands over 15 stories tall and is beautiful I stood there trying to imagine the craftsmanship it took to make it.

We spent a long time here the breeze was nice at the top of the mountain and there was a lot for the kids to do, see and learn here! Again Kevin was teaching them about respect of not only the temple and rules within them but also about Buddha . They light candles at the altar in respect and blessing of Buddha, then Mary lit incense for the loved ones on my side of the family which have passed and Simon lit one for Kevin's side.

Next we climbed the hill to the Big Buddha!!
Adventure continues on next post:)

Phuket Aquarium November 7th

Today Kevin went on his first day dive trip to Phi Phi Don, so i decided it was time to tackle the driving!

The kids and I got the map out and headed to the Aquarium. I was thinking I did very well on the drive until Simon says "mom why are you going so slow":( I guess I was traveling a bit slow as mopeds whipped past me.

The Aquarium wasn't very good but the kids enjoyed it so that's all that matters.

So 2 hours of educational fun = 118baht or around $4.00CDN!! 100baht to get in and 18baht for 3 popcicles on the way out!!

On the way in we saw a little temple so on the way out I decided to take some pictures of the kids infront of it!! It was our first budha so I thought I wanted to document it, little did I know it's against the law as Kevin told me when we got home:) Oops!!

Well bye till next time!!! Love Christine
